Lunch with Angels

Yesterday was the last of our summer lunches with investors from the Angel Academe network. This one I co-hosted with Rachel Rutherford from Dartington Wealth Management who brought some of her own guests as well. The previous one, also held at Home House Studio (as per the picture), was co-hosted by angel investor Emma Maslen, Founder and CEO of our latest sponsor, Inspir’em. The first was held at the stunning Investec offices, co-hosted by Deborah Sayagh.

We've welcomed over 60 of our angel investors & partners over 3 lunches. We're quite a distributed angel network these days with members in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Cambridge, Cornwall & everywhere in between and it's August, so a great turn out.

It’s always wonderful to catch up with them and, always surprising and hilarious, to hear everyone’s fun fact (from mis-gendering gerbils & guinea pigs, to spending the night with an American football team, to searching the archives at Windsor Castle - mentioning no names!) 🤣

More related to Angel Investing, we discussed our second EIS Fund for female founders, our latest angel investments, investor reporting, likely exits from our portfolio of female-founded tech and science startups, what tax rises may be coming in the budget & their impact on the productive economy.

AI always gets a mention but this time we talked about Merlin, Google Lens and Gemini for identifying bird song (although not so well in Namibia or W Australia apparently) and plants as well as getting gardening help. It is August after all 😇

These lunches have become a tradition for us. Thanks to the team Home House Studio for the fab hospitality for another year! 👏
