Zonova closes £2.1m investment to end hospital acquired infections
We’re delighted to announce completion of Zonova’s £2.1 million seed round led by THENA Capital, following a first close by Angel Academe, and participation from The Conduit Impact Fund, Arāya Sie Fund, The S100 Club, Animal Health Angels and a series of strategic investors from the healthcare and medical technology sectors.
Founded by Dr Georgia Fleet and Carla Southworth, Zonova is dedicated to eliminating hospital-acquired infections by embedding antimicrobial technology directly into medical devices to stop bacterial growth at the source.
Their licensing model enables medical device manufacturers to integrate the company’s technology into existing product lines while maintaining established manufacturing and regulatory pathways. This strategy positions Zonova to scale rapidly across multiple device categories without the capital intensity typically associated with medical device manufacturing.
We’re so proud to have backed Zonova since the early days and to now be joining forces with our friends at THENA Capital, a med tech specialist VC, to support the business to the next level. 9 Angel Academe angels participated in this follow-on investment for us alongside our EIS Fund.
As Dr Pamela Walker Geddes, Founding GP at Thena commented: “Zonova sits at the intersection of three of the most powerful forces shaping the future of healthcare: antimicrobial resistance, advanced materials science, and the urgent need for scalable infection prevention.”
